Skype Doesn’t Want to Support BlackBerry Devices

I found this article when i try to download Skype for my BlackBerry 9700 (BB)... Very disappointed because BlackBerry owner can't have Skype in their smartphone...

Whyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Skype Doesn’t Want to Support BlackBerry Devices

If you’re a Skype user and a BlackBerry owner then it’s no news to you that in order to use Skype services from your BlackBerry you have to use third party apps that aren’t half as good as the official Skype app you see on other OS. If you try to access the Skype download page from your BlackBerry smartphone you will see a message saying Skype isn’t available for your phone and “Why not find an iPhone, Android or Symbian device that works with Skype”. They are actually suggesting you should ditch your BlackBerry and get a new phone.

We all know how big Skype is. If a company this large, perfectly capable of doing a BlackBerry app, won’t even bother doing one that means this could become a growing trend and BlackBerry users are taking the risk of living off third party apps, if we’re lucky. What do you guys think needs to be done to prevent this from happening?

We shot a video of Douglas chatting with Blake from the RIM Facebook team about the top five Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0 app features. Click the link below if you want to read along with the video!

1. Brand New User Interface

It’s impossible to miss the sleek new design of the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0 app, which includes a new navigation grid and a notifications bar that borrows from the BlackBerry® 6 “Today View”, plus Messages, Friend Requests and Chats all in one handy location.

2. Facebook Chat

You asked for it and now you’ve got it! Facebook Chat is fully integrated with your BlackBerry® smartphone, so you can start a conversation within the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones app or from the Messages app on your smartphone. You’ll never need to worry about missing a chat message, since you’ll be notified of new chat messages even when you’re not using the Facebook app. Now that’s reliable communication!

3. Improved News Feed

Now you can scroll effortlessly through your Facebook News Feed without accidentally clicking ‘Like’, and you can interact with your friend’s posts in just two clicks. Simply click the ‘More’ button (+) to ‘Like’ or add a comment to a post. The enhanced publisher functionality allows you to post photos to your Wall, add an update, or check in to a Facebook Place right from the News Feed.

Additionally, there’s Redefined Notifications – you’ll never miss a beat in your social life now that you’re notified of polled items (that is, notifications that aren’t delivered through BlackBerry® push technology), such as ‘Likes’ and Event Wall posts.

4. Enhanced Profiles

The new Profile interface now provides Wall, Info, and Photos tabs for an even better browsing experience. New to v2.0 is the ability to view key information on Profiles and Pages, such as contact info, basic info like birthdays, hometown and relationship status, and likes and interests. Plus, you can discover which friends you have in common with another user with the Mutual Friends feature. You can also now view a user’s Friends List from their Profile if their privacy settings permit this.

5. Core Integration with your BlackBerry smartphone

Nothing says Super App more than deep integration with core BlackBerry functionality! The Facebook for BlackBerry smartphone v2.0 app is integrated everywhere you expect it to be, like your BlackBerry Message list, BlackBerry Contacts, BlackBerry Calendar, BlackBerry Browser…and now it’s even integrated with BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM™). You can share Facebook posts with BBM contacts and invite friends to BBM when you come across a PIN posted on Facebook.

Update Your BlackBerry Smartphone Software now!

See the 360 demo!

Love your smartphone all over again

The software on your BlackBerry® smartphone powers the features and functionality you love. By updating that software, you may be able to enjoy new features or enhancements.

KEY FEATURES:

With BlackBerry 6, you can navigate with ease and multitask like crazy with the new application switcher. Panes on the home screen let you organize your apps and content so you can get to your favorites fast.

Fast, rich web browsing:

The new web experience on BlackBerry 6 gives you fast page loading and tabbed browsing, so you can have multiple web pages open at once. Pages are also better laid out and easy to read.

Universal search:

When you update to BlackBerry 6, all your content is easy to access: universal search combs through everything on your smartphone at once—including your messages, applications, multimedia and options—and even reaches out to the web.

Social feeds and views:

Get updates from your social and RSS feeds in one place. Your feeds are updated automatically—you don't have to do a thing. To update your status, type it once and send it to one, all or select networks.

UPDATE PROCESS:

Updating the software on your smartphone might take 30 to 45 minutes to complete. To ensure the update process runs smoothly, you’ll need to follow three key steps:

1) Connect your smartphone to your computer using a USB connection.

2) Install the Application Loader tool on your computer (if you haven't already).

3) Follow the on-screen instructions and don’t disconnect your smartphone until the process is complete.
